Holding on to Summer For A Little Bit Longer

Is it just me or does summer literally only last 2 months?

My 2nd favorite season has come and gone again, but I’m just not ready to let it go yet. Swapping out shorts, sandals, lightweight pants, and sleeveless shirts for sweaters, jackets, and boots is something I have not mentally prepared myself for. Although I do adore fall fashion, after fall comes winter and that awful season has long been established as a sworn enemy of mine. The only upside is of course the holidays, but the weather? You can keep! On any given day throughout the winter months you can find me on twitter complaining about the freezing temperatures in NYC. I just simply am not built for the cold. But thankfully, we have some time before it gets too bad. With that being said, I will be holding on to summer for a little bit longer until further notice, and the weather has actually been allowing me some leeway on this.

I decided to keep summer alive with a mauve-colored body suit by Fashion is My Chocolate. It also comes in a nude and olive green, but I wanted to stray away from the earth tones for once and opt for a little bit more color. I can't get enough of the flared sleeves on this piece, and it briefly prompted an obessesion for all-things-flare. I paired it with a dark floral printed leather midi skirt that has been sitting in my closet for nearly 2 years now. It is originally from Zara, but I picked it up at my favorite thrift shop, Crossroads Trading. Pieces with fun prints like this skirt are one of my favorite things to wear because with all the colors, there’s so many different ways that I can style it. Being that the skirt is nearly ankle-length, I coupled it with 4-inch pink heels, because midi skirts and flat shoes is simply not my ministry. I can sometimes do a sneaker, but there’s no arguing that heels are typically the most flattering for such a staple piece. To finish the look off I grabbed what was originally a chain bag from Zara and turned it into a clutch. I love how easy-going it makes the look feel.

I think I just might be able to get a couple more summer-esque looks off before the weather takes a turn for the worst. Stay tuned for more! 😉
