A Collective of Style Mavens

When people have fashion as a common interest, as well as any other creative outlet, they're automatically connected in a way. They understand things that people who aren't particularly interested in fashion may not. They understand why you can't wear that outfit again because you were already photographed in it. They understand why you play dress up in the mirror, putting together looks to have in your arsenal. Most importantly... they understand why fashion has so much significance to you.

In honor of International Women's day being today, I wanted to do a project of women in the same industry coming together for something that has made a substantial impact on their lives (fashion and personal style). Ironically enough, I was inspired by a video I saw of Remy Ma where she spoke about how unfortunate it is that women in the same industry that have the same talent are always unnecessarily catty towards one another. Using her may not be the most ideal example with all the ongoing rap beef that she's involved in, but the message still stands. Men that share the same creative passion can always collaborate successfully with no problem; whether it be in music, fashion, television, etc. Women should be able to do the same thing. Empowered women, empower women and we need to make strides to actively apply this concept in our everyday lives.

With that being said, I teamed up with 2 other bomb fashionistas to help this vision come to life:

"One of the biggest impacts on my life has been my personal style. It's helped me to overcome insecurities and pushed me out of the realm of shyness. My outfits speak for me everywhere I go. Putting together new looks constantly keeps my mind moving and my creativity flowing. Crafting my personal style is what's kept me positively focused."

"For years fashion has been a huge part of me. It's something that keeps me leveled and self motivated. Times I've even used it to mask myself and distract me from what's going on in the world. From watching runway shows, to creating my own concepts and making my visions come to life. In the process it's taught me patience, to be open minded and because of it I have the ability to express myself creatively."

"For as long as I can remember, fashion has been a huge part of my life. It's given me a sense of purpose and belonging. Aside from the transformational affect that a good outfit has on me personally, exhibiting my individual style from day-to-day speaks volumes without me having to say a single word. In a nutshell, fashion has given me an escape."

"Here's to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them."

Happy International Women's Day!
