Memoirs of a Dreamer

For as long as I can remember, I never saw myself living a mundane life. You know, a 9-5, with one 2-week paid vacation a year, holidays off, an insanely strict daily routine, and then receiving social security checks while living in a condo in Boca Raton or some other city in Florida where a bunch of older folk retire. I always wanted more... I always saw more. Not to say that there's anything wrong with that kind of lifestyle, it works for some people... I just never saw myself being one of those people.

When I envision my long-term future, I visualize a life where I set the rules and I report to no one. I am my own boss (and just based off the strength that I have such an issue with authority, this absolutely has to come into fruition). I'm sure that majority of you are familiar with the fact that most millionaires have at least 7 streams of income and this is constantly in the back of my head. With every venture that I mentally plan, I count down how far away I am from that lucky number 7. But even so.... it's much more than the money. Of course I want to live lavish, with multiple houses, vacations whenever I please, and infinite shopping sprees. But it's way bigger than that.

The true goal is to leave behind something that outlives me (besides a few children); a legacy if you will. I believe that if that's what people strive for, that is what will bring longevity. Because money comes and goes, but true success and greatness will last forever. When it comes to fulfilling your dreams, money shouldn't really be the number one source of motivation. It should be about making a difference, leaving an imprint on those you encounter, influencing your peers, and changing the lives of others for the better. That's what is truly important.

It is SO easy to get discouraged when you're a dreamer. And yes everyone dreams, but I'm referring to those who have dreams so big that they literally terrify them. Those dreams that keep you up at night and refuse to let you fall asleep. The dreams that you keep to yourself because they're just too sacred to share with anyone else. Although, it is imperative that you don't become one of those "dreamers" that only do just that: dream. Sitting around merely thinking about what you want to attain with no course of action is completely pointless. You must plan meticulously and execute. That is my personal definition of a true dreamer at least. Those that dream without formulating any type of plan are simply delusional. For us true dreamers will come a lot of sleepless nights, sacrifices, highs, and lows. There will be a lot of disappointments and loss of friends and people you thought would be around forever. Everyone isn't going to see your vision and that's okay. Don't dwell on that. Just keep on working hard and doing you... It'll pay off in the long run, I promise.

All in all, to travel is better than to arrive. It's the journey that matters not the final destination. Keep that in the back of your mind whenever you're overcome with a staggering feeling of pessimism. Trust the process, appreciate the fuck ups, and have faith that the future will work out the way you envisioned.

-Sincerely, a dreamer
